Summary of the Project: The “8th International Artist’s Books Triennial Vilnius 2018” is a unique non-commercial cultural project, organized to promote artist’s books, creators of artist’s books from all over the world, and to connect galleries, publishers, editors and printers of fine art & limited editions, the greater general public, collectors and individual artists.

It is an educational art project involving world-renowned artists to familiarise art teachers, students and general public with the interdisciplinary arts with the stunning variety of artistic disciplines in an artist’s book – and especially to stimulate creativity and love for books.

With the world-wide support of fine artists we continue our Project of the Artist’s Books Triennial Vilnius on the very best artistic level: Great Artists making a Great Exhibition!

The “International Artist’s Books Triennial Vilnius” is organized periodically since 1997. Over this period 1610 artists from 93 countries have submitted about 3000 artist’s books. An international jury has chosen the best 835 submissions from 64 countries to be displayed during successive exhibitions. The Artist’s Books Triennials Vilnius is a traveling event showing in Vilnius (Lithuania), Leipzig, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Rheine (Germany), Lille (France), Silkeborg (Denmark), Venice and Vercelli (Italy), Seoul (South Korea), Halmstad (Sweden) and Salzburg (Austria).

Heimasíðan endurvakin! | Reviving the ARKIR blog!

Any news from ARKIR? It was a bit shocking to find out that our blog has been silent for an almost a year! Of course we blame our busy lives, but hopefully we can post more news in the months to come, even old ones! ARKIR are still busy working on book arts and multifarious visual arts, planning exhibitions and various projects. We’ll get back to that later!

But just to pick up where we left off a year ago we bring some photos from our last exhibition in Iceland, in September-October 2016: RE-BOOK in “The Old Hospital” Cultural Centre in Ísafjörður. Photos by Kristín Þóra Guðbjartsdóttir.

Um uppsetningu sýningarinnar á Ísafirði sáu þær Kristín Þóra, Inga og Svanborg.

Bókverkaspjall | Visiting book artists

6 Richard Stevens visit

ARKIR have been busy out and about in the summer, not getting together as often as in the winter time. Still, this summer we had the pleasure to meet book artist Richard Stephens from USA, a member of Minnesota Center for Book Arts. Meeting and getting in contact with fellow book artists is always inspiring and interesting.

We were also contacted by Spanish artist Sandra March from Barcelona and although we couldn’t arrange a meeting we would really like to recommend her art and amazing book works. Go visit her website Perdita METABUK and homepage.
