🇮🇸 ARKIR fengu góða heimsókn á vordögum þegar bandaríska listakonan Anne Greenwood sótti okkur heim. Hún dvaldi í gestavinnustofu Textílsetursins á Blönduósi í apríl og maí, en hún vinnur verk sín í fjölbreytt efni, þar á meðal textíl. Það gildir líka um bókverkin hennar, eins og t.d. verkið Tapestry of Hours sem var unnið út frá ljóðabók Hazel Hall (1886-1924), Needlework Poems. Tapestry of Hours er unnin með margvíslegri tækni þar sem notað er krínólín, vélsaumur, náttúruleg litarefni, þrykk, vélsaumaður texti, handunninn útsaumur, laser prent o.fl. Fundir okkar og samræður leiddu til þess að ARKIR eru nú í samstarfi við Anne Greenwood og við stefnum að nýrri bókverkasýningu öðrum hvorum megin Atlantshafsins – ef ekki beggja vegna!
🇬🇧 This spring ARKIR were happy to meet Oregon based book and textile artist Anne Greenwood and learn more about her works of art. Anne was at a visiting artist at the residency at The Icelandic Textile Center in Blönduós for two months. Anne works in various media, textile and prints often a favored technique. She showed us the exquisite book art Tapestry of Hours inspired by Needlework Poems by Hazel Hall (1886-1924). The book is made using crinoline, machine sewing, natural dyes, pressure-printing, machine-stitched text, hand-embroidery, laser printing and pouchier. Our talks and exchanging of ideas has led to a collaboration with Anne and we will be working on a new exhibition to be held on either side of the Atlantic Ocean – hopefully both!
